Alie Torenbos from Vries is with her daughter this afternoon. “She has a stall here. I expected it to be a little bigger. But the weather is beautiful, so we can enjoy it.”
It is striking that the Asser City Festival is organized by two friends from Emmen: Jeffrey Mol and Ruben Neehoff. There they are catering owners and organize various events, such as the Liberation Festival and King’s Day.
So this weekend they are taking a trip to Assen. “Because we already do a lot of cool things in Emmen and we enjoyed taking on a new challenge,” Neehoff explains. “We looked at which city we have a strong feeling for, which one has space on the calendar and which one is a nice place to set something up. Then we ended up in Assen.”
But does that also mean that Emmen will lose the two organizers? “Certainly not!”
RTV Drenthe resident photographer Kim Stellingwerf was also out later today to capture the atmosphere on camera. Enjoy the festive spirit at the market again, with food trucks and live music.
