A police spokesperson says that the horse escaped for an unknown reason and was hit while fleeing. The first collision was not fatal: the horse continued to run and the car involved also had little damage, according to the spokesperson.
A little later, around 10:45 p.m., things went horribly wrong on the Postweg near De Cocksdorp. There, another car collided hard with the horse, which did not survive. The animal was severely damaged.
Car totaled
Many emergency services, including a trauma team by helicopter, were called to the accident, but the driver of the car escaped unscathed. His car was in worse shape: it was badly damaged.
The police spokesperson reports that the driver of the car and the owner of the horse are in contact to deal with the incident.
