It looks like the sprint race. Many drivers are fighting with each other for position on the track. There’s a good chance that many riders do not cross the line in time. Carlos Sainz, for example, is on time.

Some drivers will try to do another lap. There are less than two minutes on the clock in SQ1. That means many drivers will be unlucky.

It has been quiet for a while and it is still unclear when the session will continue. For the time being, it appears that SQ1 is still running with less than two minutes on the clock.

Fernando Alonso has crashed and it is a strange incident. The Aston Martin driver tries to slow down in Turn 3, but his car goes straight. The Spaniard simply brakes too late and that is an unusual mistake for one of his experience.

Max Verstappen improves his time and moves to P3. In any case, the Dutchman seems safe to continue to the second part. He is one tenth slower than Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton goes faster than Kimi Antonelli and takes P1. George Russell seems to be going faster than his former teammate, but slows down in the last corner. Max Verstappen is now dropped to fourth fastest time.

Kimi Antonelli is feeling good and that is also reflected in this time. The Italian drives for a while four tenths faster than Max Verstappen. Just like in the first free practice, he has the fastest time.

George Russell and Lando Norris dive into the time of Charles Leclerc. Max Verstappen goes one better and goes to a 1:14.476. He has the new fastest time.

Charles Leclerc goes under the time of his teammate. Behind the Monegasque are drivers who go even faster. In any case, Leclerc is four tenths faster then Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton is the first to set a time. The Brit puts one 1:15,459. That is the benchmark for the rest of the drivers.

Liam Lawson is also not participating in this sprint qualification. The driver had engine problems in the first free practice and these have therefore not been resolved. Only twenty participants leftit just seems like 2025.

The first part of the sprint qualification has started. The drivers are given 12 minutes among the best 16 to come. We already know one dropout: that is Alexander Albon. The remaining 21 drivers will now complete their laps.

Alexander Albon will not participate in the sprint qualification. The Williams car suffered too much damage after the crash. The gearbox and engine also suffered damage. That’s according to the team cannot be repaired in time.

A fifth fastest time in the first free practice does not sound bad for Max Verstappen, but the Red Bull Racing driver will be shocked by the gap to Mercedes. The Dutchman was almost a second slower than the fastest manKimi Antonelli. As a result, Verstappen seems to have to focus on the battle with Ferrari and McLaren.

The first free practice saw four retirements, two of which were crashes. The first driver to crash was Alexander Albon, who hit a woodchuck and then landed in the wall. Towards the end of training, Esteban Ocon also crashed. Williams and Haas had to work hard in recent hours.

There were some problems for the drivers during the first free practice. This also applied to Max Verstappen, who had to mow the lawn after braking too hard before Turn 6.

Some Dutch success has already been achieved in Canada. Laurens van Hoepen took pole position for the feature race in Formula 2. The Dutchman takes the lead pole for the first time in the entry-level class of Formula 1.

Max Verstappen is still the sprint racing king, but the Dutchman has now been overtaken by the rest of the drivers. Previously, Verstappen had won more than half of the sprint racesbut currently the four-time world champion is on par with the other 21 drivers. Still a statistic to be proud of, despite Verstappen not being a fan of sprint races.

It is already the third sprint race weekend of the year, after the race weekends in China and Miami. This means that three of the five race weekends also had a sprint race, although this is mainly due to the cancellation of the Grands Prix of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. For the time being, the sprint qualifying and the sprint race are in Miami the only defining sessions in which Mercedes did not dominate.
