Johan Derksen was deeply criticized on television last night because of his incorrect statements about rape. Why is that? Is the sponsor of their Curaçao staff outing furious?

It has earned Johan Derksen a very strong reprimand from Angela de Jong: the statements he made the day before yesterday about the abuse scandal surrounding the British edition of Married At First Sight. Two women claim that they were raped during the recordings by the men to whom they were linked in the program by the TV makers.

Acid attack

It is so intense – one of the men is said to have even threatened an acid attack – that Channel 4 has taken all series of the program offline. A bit of what happened in our country at the time with The Voice of Holland.

How Johan views those rapes? “I think that’s nonsense if you’re married. Then you shouldn’t say yes to that man. That man wants to do the dot two minutes later,” he shouted the day before yesterday. Today Inside.

Angela critical

Wilfred Genee intervened immediately. “Sorry, sorry, sorry, but whether you are married or not: sex against a woman’s will is never allowed. Under no circumstances.”

Johan: “You have to be naive. You know: when you go into the wedding night, something is expected to happen.”

Angela wrote next a whole column full: “I didn’t know it was possible. But the man who systematically defends perpetrators of inappropriate behavior and kicks female victims, who told on TV how he stuck a candle in a sleeping woman, managed to sink even deeper.”

‘She was right’

Johan went through a lot of trouble yesterday in VI. “She was absolutely right about that. Yes, she was absolutely right about that. If I say something stupid, she can hit me around the ears. I have no problem with that at all. You corrected me, I already knew then that I was wrong, but I let myself be carried away, because I think it is such a pernicious program.”

He has gone too far in his dislike of Married At First Sight, according to Johan. “Two completely unknown people are brought together. In a normal marriage, the wedding night is not that exciting, because you have already had a hundred sex sessions together. Then you are used to each other and you know what is going on. Here you meet a complete stranger.”

‘I understand’

The format is that strangers marry each other. “And three hours later they have to sleep in the same bed in a hotel room. Then I understand that such a lady is not immediately in the mood to go all out sexually. But I am a man, I understand a man too and he wants to show what he can do.”

He continues: “If that woman does not want that, then that is indeed rape and that is just as bad as a normal rape that occurs outside a marriage. I just formulated that very sloppily, but it is created by the people who organize that program, because they are asking for these kinds of problems.”

Decency scumbag

What does Johan think of Angela’s reprimand? “Angela had every right to say that. Of course, she remains the ultimate decency violator in the Netherlands, but she now had a fact and I have to admit: if I say something wrong, there are a lot of people who like to emphasize it.”

“But I already say to Wilfred: ‘Tijl Uilenspiegel already said it: ‘They hate me, but I have made it that way.’”

Corendon angry?

Rob Goossens expressed his surprise in RTL Boulevard that Johan is so upset, so the big question is: who moved him to this? Is it sponsor Corendon who pays for their current Curaçao staff outing?

Wifred to Johan: “For your sake… Usually you don’t go back on it, so in that respect you also realize that this is really not possible.”

Johan: “No, this was a mistake. A mistake.”

Wilfred concludes: “If a woman doesn’t want to, it’s always no.”
