In 2026, Yvon Jaspers is anything but a ratings magnet, but she still wants more airtime from the NPO. “I can make farming programs 52 weeks a year,” says the presenter.

53-year-old Yvon Jaspers has a quite one-sided TV career. She’s a real one one trick pony. That woman can happily frolic across the meadow with a pitchfork in her hand, but that’s about it. The KRO-NCRV star was once mega-successful with this, but nowadays she is without a doubt mediocre.

Yvon wants more

Yvon started a new farmer series the day before yesterday, namely ‘Our farm: the harvest’, but that is not exactly a hit. “Only 634 thousand viewers. That is not much for the farmers who were once so popular, but are now stuck somewhere in the middle,” noted ratings authority Tina Nijkamp in her podcast.

And yet Yvon wants more. Much more. She does it in the VARA guide complaining about only getting four episodes. “I can make farmer programs 52 weeks a year. Of course I would prefer to make many more episodes, because the stories are endless.”

Precious

However, Yvon understands what the NPO is dealing with. “Yes, airtime on the public broadcaster is precious, so I am happy with these four episodes.”

She wants to keep doing it for a long time. “I have been telling farmers’ stories for 21 years, and I can continue for just as long. The stories are an inexhaustible source of inspiration. There is so little awareness of how rich our country is and how much food comes from it. And we can be proud of that!”

Motivation

Yvon still sees herself as a kind of spokesperson for the agricultural sector. “I really think that people will consume differently if they know that. I have an incredible motivation for that. It is my life’s task, my life’s purpose to convey this message.”

She decides: “I’m not going to stop doing this.”
