Valentijn Driessen understands that Yves Berendse was so nasty towards him on the socials. The two men just don’t like each other very well, says the grumpy VI star. “It’s not working.”
There is a kind of cold war between Valentijn Driessen and Yves Berendse. The Today Inside face really has nothing to do with the folk singer and does not hide that. “That Yves Berendse! Ah, what a slider that is!”, he exclaimed years ago in Today Inside. And while Yves was once in his podcast Kick-off.
Something sharp
Yves also appears to think Valentijn is a terrible guy. He wrote the day before yesterday with an Instagram photo in which we see the Telegraaf journalist sitting with Raymond Mens on the plane to the VI staff outing in Curaçao: “Ten hours with Valentine’s Day on a plane. I would rather stick something sharp in my eye.”
A certain Stefan sneers: “Listening to your music for ten hours is even worse.”
What does Valentine think?
How does Valentine look at that sneer? He points out that the singer could be a little more grateful. “That Yves Berendse simply owes his career to us,” says the journalist Today Inside.
He continues: “We have a podcast and you could buy in there via Serious Request, so if you offered money, you could join in. He then offered 500 or 1,000 euros for that, I don’t know exactly, so then he came there, but then it was an absolute nobody.”
‘It’s not working’
Yves has tried for years to break through. “He sang all kinds of other people’s songs and the like, no one knew him. Then he finally found a song that did catch on and he has become big since then, but we provided the initial impetus for that.”
He concludes: “But somehow: things don’t work out between Yves and me because I just don’t like his music.”
