Nono baroque cathedral, no cover receptions or royal family rituals: only the red sunset of the mountains, few guests and next to him Norwegian archaeologist Cat Jarman. Earl Charles Spencer, brother of Princess Diana, he chose a ceremony away from the spotlight and Windsor etiquette for his fourth marriage. After years of media attention and complicated divorces to say the least, the count chooses a more private dimension. Who knows, maybe four is Spencer’s good number. After all, there is no two without three and the fourth comes naturally.

The images released by the couple they show an almost cinematic atmosphere: golden light, wild landscapes and a deliberately essential aesthetic. Charles Spencer, 61, and Cat Jarman, 43, chose a western movie setting for their promise of love. No ostentatious luxury or aristocratic formalities. A choice that also seems to mark a definitive distancing from the royal court and the worldliness linked to the count’s surname.
Spencer and Cat Jarman, a novel love story
The story between Charles Spencer and Cat Jarman born among books. The first meeting took place in 2021when the count receives the task of reviewing River Kingsthe archaeologist’s essay dedicated to Viking trade routes. From mutual respect, to collaboration, to love. The two worked together on cultural events, historical projects and especially on the podcast The Rabbit Hole Detectives.

Charles Spencer’s three previous marriages
Before marrying Cat Jarman, Charles Spencer was married three times. The first marriage, in 1989, it was with the model Victoria Lockwoodconsidered one of the glamorous icons of the eighties: four children were born from the union (Lady Kitty Spencer, the twins Lady Amelia Spencer and Lady Eliza Spencer and Louis Spencer). But the relationship ended amid accusations of cheating and difficult years marked by Lockwood’s health problems. In the 2001 Spencer got married to Caroline Freudbelonging to the famous Freud family. Again, it was not meant to be and other rumors of betrayal by the count circulated. Finally, in 2011the count married Karen Spencer: for a long time the couple appeared solid and perfect, but the separation, announced in 2024, was far from perfect: a legal battle that quickly turned into a public affair.
