Julianna Jokela and Shirly Karvinen discuss their reality TV experiences in the recent Olipa kertan otsikko episode.
Over the years, Shirly has participated in, among other things Masked Singer– , Survivors- , Dancing with the stars– and Fort Boyard– programs. He works too Bachelor Finland – as the host of the program.
Julianna asks if Shirly could participate in some reality shows in the future.
– I don’t think so. I can’t take it anymore. It requires so much mental capacity and such dedication, Shirly says.
In 2021, Shirly Karvinen participated To the survivors and he won that season. Shirly says that even before participating in the program, she thought that reality TV was not for her.
– I just can’t take it. I don’t want to go to any closed place where someone dictates what I do and how I am. I want to experience things, but I would like to experience them in my private life, and not necessarily in front of a camera.

Julianna Jokela has been seen before, for example On the skin and You are what you eat – programs, but recently he participated in the first reality TV competition, A mole.
Julianna tells how she was especially attracted by the fact that the series was filmed in Rhodes, Greece. Julianna spent nine days on the set.
– When I came from there, I was in shock, says Julianna.
It was wonderful for him to come home to his spouse and Julianna’s spouse had, for example, baked for him as a surprise.
– But after that, the four-day crying marathon began, Julianna says.
He had no real reason for his sadness.
– Everything was fine, but I was crying all the time. I was completely confused, what is this and that I must go to therapy, Julianna says.
He says in the podcast that he called Shirly and asked if this is normal. Julianna also talked to the other contestants about it.
Shirly immediately knew what Julianna was talking about.
– When you’re in a reality show and you get out of that bubble, a collapse happens. You give so much of yourself and you are in a competitive environment where there is stress and you are constantly being twisted and analyzed.
Shirly and Julianna describe the end of intense filming as feeling “like life ends there”.
Julianna says that after four days, her everyday life started to go back to normal. However, he is surprised by the quick absorption of the reality bubble.

– The cameras weren’t even on yet, so the cheating already started, he states.
Shirly sympathizes with the fact that reality shows are mentally very difficult, although also rewarding experiences.
– After that, there is always a “drop” and I cry for many days, even in the role of host. After all, it takes me two weeks when I cry at home and I feel like a gray rag.
Julianna’s line is not quite as absolute as Shirly’s. He thinks that he could still participate in reality shows in the future.
