Gstars and stripes lamour. While the 2026 Cannes Film Festival is in full swing, between dream looks and over-the-top creations, on the other side of the ocean one of the most anticipated events of recent times took place: the parade Gucci to New York.
After the tribute of Dior in Hollywood and the world of cinema, the busy schedule of fashion show Resorts made a stop in the Big Apple, with the first Cruise show signed by the Artistic Director Demna. An unmistakable location, stars in the front row and on the catwalk, outfits that look both to the past and to the present of the maison: everything about the Gucci fashion show in New York.
The show in Times Square
From the beginning, Demna’s vision can be summed up with the expression «go big or go home”. This idea of doing things big, of aiming for grandiose and unprecedented shows, reached its peak with the fashion show American. The parade GucciCore in fact it represents a sort of return home for the Italian fashion house: in New York, in 1953, Gucci opened its first store outside of Italy. Today the Gucci universe is on stage in one of the symbolic places of the Big Apple: Times Square. While the screens surrounding the square broadcast real and imaginary commercials dedicated to elusive perfumes, travel, cars and hotels, Gucci’s new visual language took shape on the catwalk.

Gucci New York fashion show, characters and surprises on the catwalk
After The Family, Generation Gucci And Spring, GucciCore represents the fourth act of Demna’s approach based on the studies of personages. The collection staged in Times Square, in fact, presents itself as one section stylistic transverse of New York City, from Madison Avenue to Brooklyn, from SoHo to Harlem, to Fifth Avenue. On the catwalk, there is a succession of faces and figures that one might encounter on the street. Brokers and businessmen in pinstripes; gentleman with taste Old Money wrapped in coats shearling; skater with jeans; socialite and philanthropists ready to shine in evening dresses and suits. A plurality of styles that reflects both the city and the Gucci imagination.

Furthermore, to interpret the typical inhabitants of New York, Demna focused on faces known – fashion and beyond. Paris Hiltonfor example, she paraded in a printed shirt dress, with padded shoulder straps, bow closure and pleated skirt, perfectly poised between the Eighties and today. The former football star (and Gisele Bündchen’s ex-husband) Tom Bradyhowever, was completely dressed in black leather, somewhere between absolute minimalism and biker inspiration. In addition to the top models Mariacarla Boscano, Alex Consani And Emily Ratajkowski, Cindy Crawford she closed the show in a sculptural dress covered in feathers.

Utilitarian opulence
In the collection GucciCore some of the symbolic elements of the history and DNA of the maison take on new forms and functions. There Web Stripefor example, the unmistakable signature of the fashion house since 1951, green and red, now takes the form of a bandeau top. According to many, the creation was a direct reference to the so-called binderthe compression undergarment used to flatten the breasts, often used by transgender and non-binary people. THE’HorsebitGucci’s historic equestrian signature, is instead reinterpreted as a stirrup applied to rigorous boots with heels and ankle boots with a metal tip.
In short, in his first Cruise show, Demna built an effective dialogue between functionality and aesthetics. Circular duvet-effect stoles in leather and monogrammed fabrics coexist with reversible coats animated by floral motifs. The high fashion garments, for their part, are expressed through crocodile-effect sequins, beaded fringes and feather embroidery. The bags come in deep shades and jeweled patinas, the watch-clutches feature straps timepieceWhile wide sling tote deconstructed are reinterpreted through new processes and materials.

As predicted, the Gucci show in New York turned out to be a steal star. In fact, they sat in the front row Kim Kardashianreturned to the court of Demna, Mariah Carey, Lindsay Lohan, Shawn Mendes, Ghali And Iman.
