Rap artist Gettomasa, 32, organized a special rapture in his hometown Jyväskylä yesterday, Friday.

This weekend, Jyväskylä is celebrating the Yläkaupungin yö city festival, during which numerous free performances can be seen in different parts of the city.

Gettomasa, whose real name is Aleksi Lehikoinen, did not organize an actual surprise gig, although he appeared among the townspeople to rap on Friday night.

Already earlier on social media, Gettomasa, together with Jyväskylä artist Axel Kala, repeated the statement “Kodit päl” and urged to prepare for a surprise.

A third artist from Jyväskylä, Lyttä, also participated in the mood.

– We’re going to do something really sick today in Jyväskylä, Gettomasa explained on Friday on social media.

Next, Gettomassa published in his Instagram stories a picture of a receipt from a McDonald’s restaurant in Jyväskylä. He had stopped by to pick up 500 cheeseburgers, the total amount of which came to a total of 1,100 euros.

Instagram stories are available for viewing 24 hours after their publication.

After their restaurant order, the artists arrived by car in the middle of Jyväskylä’s Lounaispuisto, where in the darkening night of the city, apparently unreleased music was heard and cheeseburgers were thrown to the townspeople.

In addition to handing out hamburgers, videos of Gettomasa rapping into a megaphone in the middle of a crowd began to spread on social media.

The artist spent almost a couple of years in an almost completely silent life, until in January Gettomasa organized a press conference at Jyväskylä City Hall, where he announced that he had returned.

Jyväskylä’s mayor Timo Koivisto also went to greet the artist at the town hall in January. Henri Kärkkäinen

Gettomasa said that he suffered from serious back problems, which dragged his spirit down. On the other hand, they forced him to stop.

– I certainly wouldn’t have realized to take a break if my health hadn’t gotten to the point where I have to take it. In retrospect, the whole thing felt more like a blessing, because I feel like during my break I realized I needed this.

In January, he told Iltalehte that he is doing well now and that he has got his back in shape.

– Health is really good. I feel better than I have in many, many years. I’m healthy as a goat. The break made a difference, he said with a smile.

At the beginning of the year, the artist has been releasing new music at a steady pace, and in June he will return to the concert stages, starting from nowhere else but Jyväskylä.
