Arend Jan Boekestijn earns around 100,000 euros per month with his popular talk show for BNR Nieuwsradio, says Johan Derksen. And Arend Jan himself does not deny that. “A lot of money.”

According to trade site Spreekbuis, it is the largest podcast in our country: Boekestijn & De Wijk, in which Arend Jan Boekestijn and Rob de Wijk discuss geopolitics. BNR signed the contract with the successful duo – their podcast is downloaded 700,000 times a week – in the spring extendedand that would be a pretty lucrative deal.

Millionaire

Johan Derksen states that this really involves a huge amount of money. “Arend Jan is pretty much the only man in the Netherlands who becomes a millionaire from a podcast, right? He really becomes a millionaire from a podcast. It’s unbelievable how many listeners he has,” he says at the table. Today Inside.

Arend Jan: “It is somewhat true.”

Table guest Tina Nijkamp: “Did that really make you a millionaire?”

Very high price

Arend Jan tones that down. “Well, not a millionaire, but I do have 200 million downloads. It’s ridiculous! In ten years. I, Tina, have been nominated for the Silver Travel Microphone and that seems to be a very high prize.”

Tina: “Yes, nice. Yes, well, all those awards. Of course it doesn’t mean much. Everyone has been nominated for a podcast award at some point, right? Everyone here at the table has. How much do you earn per month from them?”

Arend Jan: “I don’t dare say that. A lot!”

Tontje

Johan knows more about that. “I hear from a generally reliable source that it is a ton.”

Tina: “Wow, a ton?!”

Substitute Genee Thomas van Groningen: “At BNR, yes? Yes! I was there for years.”

Tina concludes: “Per month? Wow! That is really huge.”
