While Reinout Oerlemans plays the part of a chic multi-millionaire in Bel Air, his brother Dirk Oerlemans appears to be active in our country as a bad slum landlord who is a lot less mediagenic in front of Tim Hofman’s camera…
Tim Hofman delves into the real estate business of Dirk Oerlemans, Reinout’s brother, in a new broadcast of BOOS. He is said to own 75 homes in The Hague, spread over about twenty buildings. However, according to affected tenants, hardly anything is done about serious overdue maintenance, even though the rent continues as normal.
Dirk running away
The complaints are anything but petty grumbling about a loose kitchen cabinet. For example, a tenant says that sewage water is leaking from the ceiling, with all the associated health risks. Another is struggling with a leak in the meter cupboard, something that the fire brigade believes is life-threatening. Residents say that reports remain unresolved and there is hardly any response.
It is doom and gloom for the tenants, while Dirk Oerlemans is enjoying his time in sunny Spain. And since he barely responds, Tim decides to take a plane to confront him. This results in a completely non-mediagenic Dirk, who runs away from the camera because he clearly has no appetite for critical questions.
“Screws his tenants!”
Tim thinks it is extremely cowardly of Dirk. “Dear viewers, this is Dirk Oerlemans in Spain. He screws his tenants and thought: if I go here, I will lose them, but not.”
After the confrontation, Dirk is furious and he quickly shows that. “Already on the way home we receive emails and texts from Oerlemans in which he sends us a demand. He wants us to delete all recordings and if we do not meet his demands he will take legal action without further notice.”
Stupid boy
Dirk is tempted to call Tim a few days later, but that is also getting out of hand. “Am I on speaker again or am I being recorded again? Okay. Yes, I think that is very bad, that journalism and taxpayers’ money is being spent in this way on a kind of non-news.”
He is now demanding ten million euros if Tim does not throw away the images: “You are really a very stupid boy. Were you bullied earlier or something at school that you had to do this work? You are an extremely stupid man.”
