The weather has sometimes been nicer around Ascension Day. The weather has been mainly grey, windy and wet in recent days, but there seems to be a very gradual improvement after tomorrow.
“You wouldn’t say that we are already halfway through May,” says RTV Drenthe weatherman Roland van der Zwaag. “The shower and chill are particularly striking. We are about 5 to 6 degrees ‘too low’ for this time of year.”
The weatherman points out that the precipitation is good for agriculture and gardens. “There has been a lot of evaporation this spring, but with all the rain we will be fine.”
Van der Zwaag expects it to remain rainy in the coming days. Really nice weather during Ascension Day is not an option.
“There will be showers from time to time tonight and tonight and it will be around 3 to 4 degrees,” he expects. There is also a risk of frost on the ground.
On the cold side, especially for people who are going to dew in the morning. This is an old Dutch tradition, where people go for a walk in nature at sunrise on Ascension Day.
Tomorrow it will be cloudy during the day and there may be a shower from time to time. But it is expected to be dry in the afternoon, with temperatures of around 12 degrees. Still, the sun will show itself tomorrow afternoon and evening.
After Ascension Day we will first have to deal with some rain now and then on Friday. “On Saturday there will be some sun at times and there will be a last shower. Sunday still looks dry, with sun from time to time and temperatures around 15 degrees,” said Van der Zwaag.
