NBA basketball player Brandon Clarke of the Memphis Grizzlies has died at the age of 29. His agent agency Priority Sports announced this via social media. The cause of death has not yet been made public.
“Our hearts are broken,” his club Memphis Grizzlies wrote in a statement. “Brandon was a great teammate and an even better person whose impact on our club and the Memphis community will not be forgotten. We sympathize with his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Clarke has played at the highest level with the Memphis Grizzlies since 2019, which extended his contract three times. He didn’t play much this season due to injuries.
In April of this year, he was arrested in Arkansas for possession of narcotics and fleeing police.
Clarke was born in Vancouver and moved to the United States when he was three. He was a citizen of both countries, but hoped to play for the Canadian national team in the future.
