The petting zoo is a daytime place where clients of Ons Tweede Thuis work. They had said good morning to the goats in the morning. Dierenvreugd is closed on Mondays, but the work continues as usual.
When the zookeepers returned from their coffee break around 10:45 am, something was wrong. “We suddenly saw the goats and sheep running back and forth very quickly,” says Mirelle de Haas, manager of the petting zoo. “The moment we got to the stable, we missed the two little pygmy goats.”
The goats are not yet four days old and therefore still need their mother for milk. That’s why it was important to find them quickly. Apparently, after a game of hide and seek that lasted about four hours, the animals got hungry. To the delight of the caretakers, the goats had returned to their mother.
