As of today, residents of the municipalities of Aa and Hunze, Noordenveld, Tynaarlo and the province of Groningen can apply for money from Nij Begun. The so-called residents’ budget is intended for their own activities that contribute to the quality of life or social connection in their neighborhood, district or village.
That could be anything. For example, you can think of creating a neighborhood vegetable garden, organizing a sporting event or a music project for young people. The condition is that the activity increases the quality of life and brings residents together.
The residents’ budget is part of the Social Agenda of Nij Begun. Nij Begun is the earthquake compensation program that focuses on a better life for the people of Groningen and North Drenthe. For example, 6.5 million will also be allocated for more village support workers in Drenthe.
