After the first three stages of the Giro were held in Bulgaria, the riders will be at the start in Italy for the first time on Tuesday. The ride through the south of the country offers opportunities for the stronger sprinters, but the attackers should not be eliminated.

The riders continue their Giro d’Italia after a rest day in southern Italy. The stage goes from Catanzaro to Cosenza and is 138 kilometers long. During the course the road goes up three times, one of which is categorized.

After 80 kilometers the first climb takes place. In approximately 15 kilometers the riders ride to an altitude of more than 900 meters, with an average gradient of 5.9 percent. When the riders reach the top, there are still 43 kilometers to go.

In the last 3 kilometers the road rises slightly over wide and winding roads. The last 450 meters increase to 3.7 percent.

Favorites

There are a number of riders who can survive the climb and then have enough left to do a good sprint.

Paul Magnier, who has already won two stages in the Giro, is a contender. Jonathan Milan, Kaden Groves, Tobias Lund Andresen and Ethan Vernon also have that potential.

If it doesn’t end in a sprint, attackers like Mick van Dijke, Antiono Morgado, Michael Valgren, Filippo Ganna, Jasper Stuyven and Lukas Kubis are names to write down.
