A car was found upside down in a ditch along Robberdastraat in Wijk en Aalburg on Monday evening. Emergency services responded en masse and searched the ditch because it was unclear whether anyone was still in or around the car. Ultimately, the owner turned out to be at home.

Around half past ten, several ambulances, the fire brigade and the police were urgently called to Robberdastraat in Wijk en Aalburg. There, emergency workers found a car upside down in a ditch.

Because it was not clear whether anyone was still present in or around the car, the fire brigade immediately started a search in the water. The ditch was searched, but no one was found.

The fire brigade then pulled the car out of the ditch with a winch, so that they could carefully check whether there was anyone under or in the car. But no one was found there either.

Owner appears to be at home
A little later, people came to the scene of the accident who knew who owned the car. They contacted the owner, who turned out to be at home. According to bystanders, he was even in the shower.

When it became clear that no one had been injured, the ambulances and fire brigade were able to leave again. The police stayed behind for a while to deal with the incident.

It is not yet clear how exactly the car ended up in the ditch. A recovery company later removes the heavily damaged car from the ditch.
