With the 3-2 win against Europa League finalist SC Freiburg, Hamburger SV celebrated another respectable success in the last home game of the season. HSV loan player Luka Vuskovic then spoke clearly about his future.
“It was a very special game for me. 99.9 percent of the time it was probably my last home game for HSV,” said Vuskovic, who has not only been a top performer in the Hanseatic city in recent months, but also a fan favorite. “You never know what’s going to happen and you shouldn’t completely slam a door, but it felt like a goodbye party.”
The chances of staying at HSV are “very, very, very, very low,” emphasized the four-time Croatian international.
Vuskovic is under contract with Tottenham Hotspur until 2030, but is said to be courted by much larger clubs, including FC Barcelona. “The season is not over yet and we will talk about the future after it ends,” explained the 19-year-old.

The younger brother of defender Mario Vuskovic, who is currently suspended for doping, made a huge impact at HSV – not only with his extremely strong defensive performances, but also with a total of six goals, one of which he scored against Freiburg.
“I’m so happy to be part of this club. I don’t have enough words for it – it’s pure joy,” enthused Vuskovic from HSV. “I’m happy that I was able to help the team with goals. It was a really good season.”
In addition to Vuskovic, HSV is also likely to lose playmaker Fabio Vieira, who is returning to Arsenal. “I was able to coach these players for a year and I’m very happy about it because they had a great season,” said coach Merlin Polzin.
But he also emphasized: “Nobody has to worry that we won’t be ready next year.”
