The first leg of the first round of the national playoff phase smiles on the top seeds, all undefeated, who will host the return matches on their home pitch on Wednesday. In the event of an overall tie after 180 minutes, the top seeds advance to the quarter-finals. Here’s what happened.

In the most awaited match, Salernitana seems to take off but then returns home with a single goal advantage (precious in any case). A devastating first half was enough for Potenza – who entered this round thanks to their success in the Italian Cup – to demolish Campobasso: Felippe unlocked from the spot (penalty naively caused by Lancini), Bifulco failed to equalize, then on the restart Potenza doubled their lead with D’Auria – best on the pitch, scoring all the goals – and Siatounis scored a trio. Pietro De Giorgio’s team now has a foot and a half in the quarter-finals.

Luciano Foschi’s Renate made his debut in the best possible way (he won the playoffs in 2023, at the helm of Lecco): on the Casarano pitch – which seemed very fast, after 7 goals scored in the first two games – it was the Icelandic center forward Karlsson who split the game with two shots and two goals in the first 24 minutes (in the second half, the crossbar denied him the hat-trick). Vito Di Bari’s team reacts, produces chances, but crashes into Nobile’s saves and isn’t even able to take advantage of their numerical superiority after the red card to Spedalieri.
