After the narrow success against HSV, Ailien Poese trusts the same starting eleven. Eva-Maria Virsinger changed one position in her starting lineup after the 1-1 draw against Bayern. Harsch takes a seat on the bench for the time being and Grimm plays from the start.

At the end of the season, the Kraichgau team ran out of steam. Two defeats against direct competition from Frankfurt and Wolfsburg were followed by a narrow 2-1 win against Freiburg and a 6-2 show of force against 1. FC Köln. On the last matchday, head coach Eva-Maria Virsinger’s team defied FC Bayern by a point. It was only shortly before the final whistle that Munich equalized to make it 1-1. Otherwise it would have been the first league defeat for the old and new champions.

Things were going really well for the team from the capital in the final phase of the season. Ailien Poese’s team has only narrowly lost 2-3 in the last five games against leaders Bayern. This compares to two wins and two draws. Most recently, fellow promoted team Irons beat HSV 1-0 with a goal from winter newcomer Tysiak in the 60th minute.

Union Berlin only got promoted this year and the Unioners have been assured of staying in the league for a long time. With 30 points and ninth place, they are a whopping 15 points ahead of the first relegation place and are therefore safely in the middle of the field. Hoffenheim could only theoretically finish third. TSG is in fifth place in the table with 42 points and ahead of them are Leverkusen with 43 points and Frankfurt with 48. A draw against Union on the last matchday is enough for Eintracht to qualify for the premier class.
