Mark has been with the KNRM for 25 years and, despite the fact that the organization demands quite a bit from its people, he is having a great time. “The best thing, of course, is that you can help people, and when you deliver them safely to the port, you see the relief and gratitude among those people. That is what you do it for: that one rescue in which you can make a difference.”
The KNRM Huizen rescue station runs entirely on volunteers. Mark: “We run the picket team with 25 volunteers. But that is sometimes tight, so we are always looking for reinforcements. So if I may make an appeal: if you live within ten minutes of our rescue station in Huizen and if this sounds like something to you, please contact us.”
