The FC Bayern Munich players won their last home game against Eintracht Frankfurt. After the final whistle, the team receives the championship trophy.
The footballers of the FC Bayern Munich celebrated their championship celebration with a 2-0 home win against Eintracht Frankfurt. Arianna Caruso took the lead in the twelfth minute after an assist from Klara Bühl. After the break, Pernille Harder took advantage of a defensive mistake by Frankfurt and headed the score to 2-0 (47′).
After the final whistle, the hosts received the championship trophy in the last home game of the season in front of 2,500 spectators at the sold-out Bayern Campus. Coach José Barcala’s team had already successfully defended their title. It is the fourth triumph in a row for the Munich team and the eighth overall in the club’s history.
VfL Wolfsburg secured second place in the table with a 4:2 (2:1) win at SC Freiburg on Saturday. Both top teams will meet in the DFB Cup final in Cologne on Thursday. The Munich team, who failed in the Champions League semi-finals against FC Barcelona, can still complete the double there.
Before the final matchday next weekend, the Munich team remains unbeaten this season. For the duel with the third-placed team, Barcala made nine changes to the starting eleven compared to Wednesday’s 1-1 draw against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. His team dominated the game from the start, even if Frankfurt created a few opportunities.
Maria Luisa Grohs, Carolin Simon, Georgia Stanway and Natalia Padilla Bidas were bid farewell before kick-off. Lea Schüller and Tuva Hansen, who had already left the club during the winter break, were also honored again.
