The Finnish rally star was amazed by his time.
Toyota’s Sami Pajari was reasonably satisfied with his morning at the Portugal World Rally.
Pajari started Saturday morning very strongly and immediately dropped the bottom time for the start of the morning.
Since then, however, the Finn’s pace dropped a bit and the other top men came harder. Before Saturday’s evening run, Pajari is in fourth place in the rally, but is ahead of Toyota, who is leading the rally to Oliver Solberg however, is only a moderate 8.1 seconds.
– However, we almost halved the gap to the top during the morning, if you think about it that way, Pajari was happy.
– Base time came in the first part of the morning. Not funny, Pajari continued.
Big differences
However, the last part of the morning run did not go according to the Finnish driver’s wishes. Pajari was no less than 10.5 seconds behind Soberg’s bottom time in the last section of the morning’s run.
– That last clip was somehow mysterious. I don’t think we went at all cautiously, but still the time difference to the top was really big, Pajari wondered.
– It seems that at the moment there are even surprisingly big differences even within our team in terms of the car’s settings. Maybe that’s where the difference came from. We have to try to come up with something now, Pajari continued.
I don’t like the rain
On Saturday morning, there was also some rain in Portugal. However, Pajar had a clear wish for the afternoon run in terms of the weather.
– Somehow I don’t like that rain at all. Getting wet and everything, Pajari laughed.
– But then it is what it is. Let’s try to come up with something for it now. It will probably be at least humid, Pajari continued.
On Saturday, five more special stages will be run in the World Rally Championship in Portugal. The competition ends on Sunday.
