This morning the fire brigade freed three people from a lift at the station in Meppel. The elevator has long been known as the ‘horror elevator’.
No one was injured. It is not clear how long the three occupants were trapped.
The lift is currently out of use and needs to be repaired by a technician. To prevent further incidents, the fire brigade cordoned off the elevator with a tape.
The disruption causes problems for travelers who are dependent on the elevator, such as people in wheelchairs or with heavy suitcases. They cannot currently reach the platform independently.
It is not the first time that the elevator has suffered from technical problems.
