For the 2026 World Cup, FIFA is planning its own opening show in each of the three host countries. Which stars will appear in Mexico City, Toronto and Los Angeles – and when it starts.
FIFA is organizing its own opening ceremony for the 2026 World Cup in all three host countries. Mexico City kicks off on June 11th. Toronto and Los Angeles follow on the following two days. According to Fifa boss Gianni Infantino, the celebrations would “unite music, culture and football in a way that reflects both the individuality of each nation and the unity that defines this tournament.”
The first ceremony for the opening game between Mexico and South Africa takes place at the Aztec Stadium. In addition to the multi-Grammy award-winning band Maná, pop star Alejandro Fernandez, the South African singer Tyla, the Spanish-Mexican singer Belinda and the Los Ángeles Azules will perform there.
Toronto follows on June 12th with Canada’s game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara and the Palestinian-Chilean musician Elyanna have been hired for the show there.
Los Angeles concludes on June 13th with the US opener against Paraguay. Katy Perry, rapper Future, DJ Sanjoy, Rema and Tyla are scheduled to perform there. Fifa President Gianni Infantino said: “The artists’ program reflects the cultural diversity of the United States and the vibrancy of its many diasporas.”
