A fire raged in an apartment complex on Ringbaan Zuid in Tilburg on Saturday morning. The fire was discovered around a quarter to seven. The fire was accompanied by a lot of smoke. Dozens of people had to leave their apartments.
Several people were taken to a hospital due to breathing problems. Several fire engines, ambulances and police cars rushed to the South Ring Road.
The fire brigade was able to rescue a cat from the apartment where the fire broke out. The animal was ventilated outside and cared for by the fire brigade until the vet arrived.
The damage to the apartment where the fire raged is extensive. It was not yet clear on Saturday morning when people and their pets can return to their apartments. The fire brigade is busy ventilating the building.
How the fire broke out is under investigation. Rumor has it among residents that a forgotten candle was the cause.
