The National Expertise and Operations Unit of the police and the Coast Guard intercepted the sailing yacht after it was noticed by a suspicious sailing route. It was also outside the twelve-mile zone, meaning it sailed outside territorial waters. The ship was not authorized for that.

The yacht was brought to the port of Den Helder. The KMar, Customs and the police were waiting there to check the ship. One of the passengers could not show identification and the other only had a Panamanian passport. They have been arrested.
Laptops and telephones were found on the ship and were seized for investigation. In addition, the lessor of the ship was heard as a witness.
One of the suspects has now been brought to trial and the judge has decided that he will remain in custody for 14 days. The KMar continues with the investigation.
