In the work of María Paula Arata, painting was never a still territory. Since his first series, his work is built from an intense relationship with gesture, color and material, where each piece seems to expand beyond the painting itself.
In recent years, the artist has begun to project that language into new formats through exclusive projects and carefully selected licenses of her works. The proposal seeks to transfer its visual universe to other creative fields—such as design, fashion and interior design—without losing the original identity of each piece.
“I always felt that the work could have other lives,” says Arata. “I am interested in art being able to expand and coexist with everyday life without losing its essence.”
Under this perspective, its production begins to dialogue with designers and brands who find in their work a way to incorporate contemporary art into different supports, from textiles to pieces designed for spaces.
For the artist, these collaborations are not an adaptation of the work, but a natural extension of her language.
On April 10, Arata will also participate in the ARTCANGEL meeting, a multisensory event that fuses art, music, design, gastronomy and fashion, and that develops solidarity actions to benefit different foundations. Within this framework, the day will include a charity auction of works of art along with the participation of renowned invited artists and creators.
At a time of expansion in his career, his work continues to grow in new directions, always maintaining the same impulse: that painting can cross different worlds and continue generating experiences.
