If you work as a team, you win. Broaden the base, introduce more and more young people to cycling, take them to do sports in the best possible condition, with the guarantee of pedaling without risks. Here we are not talking about the organization of competitions, competitive spirit, prizes or trophies: here the social aspect counts. Are the main concerns of parents of cyclists, especially young ones, traffic and road dangers? Well: the Monza and Brianza Provincial Committee of the Italian Cycling Federation, led by Chiara Mariani, has signed an agreement for the second year with the Monza Autodrome to guarantee training in complete safety for all types of cyclists registered with the Federciclismo, the Italian Triathlon Federation and the Csi and Asci sports promotion bodies. From Monday 11 May to 31 July, 17 evenings have been identified within the most famous racetrack in the world for cycling without cars, without crossings. The project is called “Pedala in Safety”: the presentation was attended by the president of the FCI, Cordiano Dagnoni, who recently presented new legislative proposals on the matter to the parliamentary groups; Ruggero Redaelli, president of the Banca di Credito Cooperativo Carate Brianza e Treviglio, an irreplaceable partner to support initiatives in the most cycling area in Italy; Fabio Perego, president of the Track sector of the FCI technical structure.

dates and rules

The program includes the meeting at 6pm, with the track open from 6.15pm to 8pm. The dates: in May11, 13, 14 and 21. In June: 4, 9, 11, 15, 23 and 30. In July: 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21 and 23. The operational management of the activity is entrusted to the Consortium of Monza and Brianza cycling clubs, directed by Ruggero Cazzaniga, who takes care of the organization of the training sessions and ensures compliance with the established procedures: the collaboration of the Municipality of Monza, with the sports councilor Viviana Guidetti, and the national Autodromo is crucial. A limited access system will be established with completely digitalized management of registrations, to eliminate improvisation and crowding, and further improve safety on the track. The athlete must register online with his data, he will have the OK from the Consortium and he will receive a personal QR code necessary to access the circuit. A financial contribution will be paid for security purposes of 5 euros (if Federciclo and triathlon members) or 10 euros (for sports promotion bodies), also managed online. the words

Cordiano Dagnoni, president of the Federciclismo, explains: “This is a virtuous example to be replicated in other areas of Italy, in other provincial committees. The biggest handicap for cycling is safety on the roads and in races, it is the hottest topic that we are also addressing with our numerous proposals sent to all the parliamentary groups. There is nothing better than using protected and safe facilities. Here we have a facility of excellence like the most famous racetrack in the world which opens its doors to cycling”. Ruggero Redaelli, president of the Banca di Credito Cooperativo Carate Brianza e Treviglio, is enthusiastic about this project and the work done by Federciclo in the Brianza Oratories, where in 2025 over 2000 children were introduced to cycling and road safety education. “We have always been close to the initiatives organized in the area – explains Redaelli -. We are a community bank that wants to be active by acting as a chain of economic and social development: initiatives that combine sport and education go in this direction and generate value for the area and invite people to practice sports. The issue of safety in cycling is fundamental for the spread of sports practice, but unfortunately it tells us about important and unacceptable numbers regarding accidents. It means educating young people to respect road rules and regulations, and cultivating a passion for cycling which is an extraordinary training ground for life: it teaches commitment, sacrifice, team spirit and a sense of responsibility that I would like to expand to the Bergamo area too.”
