Peter Gillis (64) is appealing against the prison sentence and the high fine for tax fraud. The campsite owner and reality star reports this to Omroep Brabant. On Thursday, Gillis was sentenced to 18 months in prison, of which 6 months were conditional, and a fine of more than 1.3 million euros.
“My lawyer thinks an appeal is wise and I think it’s fine,” says Peter Gillis.
Gillis’ response
According to the judge, the entrepreneur filed tax returns late and has still not been completed in full for 2020 and 2021. In doing so, he has harmed the Tax Authorities by 2.8 million euros. “He has undermined the financial foundation of our society,” the judge said.
“That is intense, because I expected an acquittal,” Gillis said immediately after the court’s ruling in Den Bosch. “I am not running away from what happened, I am the owner, but that does not mean that I agree with the verdict.”

Peter Gillis was also convicted on Thursday afternoon for the assault of his ex Nicol Kremers (36). He was given a community service order of 60 hours and must pay compensation of 1,000 euros. The expectation is that Gillis will ‘just accept’ that punishment, he said earlier. “But that lies with another lawyer, we are still studying it,” Gillis said on Friday.
A year ago, the campsite owner was also sentenced to twelve months in prison, six of which were conditional, for large-scale tax fraud between 2014 and 2019. Gillis is said to have had illegal rentals and destroyed administration. He appealed against that ruling; that case is still ongoing.
