The Champions League exit against PSG also has personnel consequences for FC Bayern. Coach Vincent Kompany is cautious about making a prediction.
FC Bayern will have to be without Alphonso Davies again in the last away game of the season at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday evening (from 6:30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online). Coach Vincent Kompany announced this at a press conference on Friday morning. The Canadian is out with muscular problems. It is the third injury of this kind for the 24-year-old this season.
“He’s definitely missing for this game. If we’ve seen the pictures, we know how long he’ll be out,” explained the Bayern coach. Next week, FC Bayern will welcome 1. FC Köln for their last Bundesliga game. Then there is the DFB Cup final against VfB Stuttgart on May 23rd. It is unclear whether the Canadian will be available again.
Davies had already been substituted at half-time in the Champions League first leg against Paris last week because “he felt something,” Kompany explained at the time. In the second leg on Wednesday he came into the game after 67 minutes and prepared Harry Kane’s goal.
Since all the other players are fit, he will change some positions in the starting lineup in Wolfsburg. “We’ll first see who looks fresh. I have the strategy in mind, but I want to keep a close eye on which players fill the role.”
For the last Bundesliga game against Cologne, Kompany wants to trust his supposed first team so that the team can “stay in rhythm” with a view to the final.
