A Bayern game without Harry Kane as a goalscorer on the scoreboard is a rarity – in 48 appearances, he only failed to score in eleven games. He was also successful in the semi-final second leg of the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain and now has 55 goals across all competitions. In the 94th minute he scored to make the final score 1-1, but too late to prevent the record champions from going out. With the goal, Kane equalized a record set by Robert Lewandowski in 2019/20. Since 2000, no FC Bayern player has scored more goals in one season. The top 10 is dominated by the two, with only one other player represented.
The Englishman needed one more game than Lewandowski (47) to score 55 goals, but he can set a new record in the remaining games in the Bundesliga and cup. Third place is also occupied by Lewandowski, who was able to overcome the opposing goalkeeper 50 times in 2021/22. Apart from the two, former German international striker Mario Gómez is in the list: with 41 goals in 2011/12, he ranks tenth. Since his arrival at Bayern in 2023, Kane has scored 140 goals, an average of 0.97 goals per game, and is in tenth place in the all-time Bayern goalscorer list. If the England international manages to score five more goals, he can move up to seventh place.
While Lewandowski was able to win the treble with Bayern in 2019/20, this dream has shattered for Kane. After being eliminated in the semi-finals, Kane already focused on the last games in the Bundesliga and the final in the DFB Cup. “We have to stay focused to finish the season successfully, there is still a final to come,” he posted on Instagram. Kane is almost certain to be the top scorer in the German upper house, and he also scored the most goals in the DFB Cup (7). However, Lewandowski’s 41-goal record in the Bundesliga is likely to be unattainable for him, Kane has 33 with two games to go. However, the chances of surpassing Robert Lewandowski’s already equalized cross-competition record and further increasing his own goal account are good with three games remaining.
