Evert Santegoeds’ Patricia Paay bash arouses the ire of her daughter Christina Curry. She finds it bizarre that he portrays her as some kind of senile woman. “Disrespectful and brutal.”
Christina Curry and Patricia Paay advertise some cheap duvet on social media. We both see mother and daughter in the video; daughter does the voice-over, mother appears silently. According to private boss Evert Santegoeds, Patricia looks senile and demented. At least, that’s what he paints in a very long article.
Curry furious
Christina thinks it’s disgusting. “Normally I don’t respond to this, but the pieces that appeared online today about my mother cross all boundaries. They are degrading, disrespectful and downright brutal. And that our video for Zelesta is used as so-called “proof” that my mother is absent or deteriorated? You are deeply ashamed.”
She continues Instagram: “We are talking about a 77-year-old woman here. A mother, and almost a grandmother. Perhaps the real ‘senile boomers’ here are the journalists themselves. If even a little research had been done, you would have seen that I have previously created campaigns for Zelesta in which there is little or no speaking.”
Dry edits
It’s not a strange video at all, Christina thinks. “These types of quick, dry edits can also be seen everywhere within the younger generation. Feel free to take a look at TikTok (and indeed put on your glasses).”
She continues: “Zelesta asked my mother and me to create a fun Mother’s Day campaign together. My friend and I produced it in our own style: with humor, sarcasm and a wink, as we always do. And if that is ‘cheap’, then apparently I am cheap. Bye.”
Tough period
Christina is disgusted by Evert. “The fact that people are twisting this in such a disgusting way about a woman who has just gone through an extremely difficult period and now wants to enjoy her life and her future grandchild in peace makes me sick.”
She concludes: “Apparently women in the media are not allowed to grow old without being ridiculed whenever the opportunity arises. It is striking how few articles I see about men in showbiz who behave so-called ‘senile’.”
