RTV Drenthe will broadcast the series from today We are Lower Saxony out. The series of eight episodes in total was made by RTV Oost and takes the viewer on a journey through the Lower Saxon language area, where culture, history and regional language come together.
In the program, presenters Hendrik Jan Bökkers and Albert Bartelds investigate what it means to be part of that region. They travel through the landscape and speak with residents, professionals and other stakeholders about identity, traditions and the importance of the regional language.
Although the series mainly takes place in Overijssel, the theme extends beyond the provincial borders. Drenthe is also part of the Lower Saxon language area. The broadcasts therefore fit in with a broader regional identity in which language and culture are strongly intertwined.
According to RTV Oost, which produces the series in collaboration with the Overijssel Academy, the program is about passing on stories, knowledge and traditions between generations. The regional language plays a connecting role in this.
Various places and people are visited in the episodes. We are Lower Saxony can be seen weekly on RTV Drenthe from today.
