Andrea Abodi, the Minister for Sport and Youth, also spoke about the Roman derby situation at the European Parliament in Brussels, where he spoke during the adoption, in the plenary assembly, of the Erasmus+ project which had as speaker Roberto Pella, president of the Professional Cycling League. “I’m waiting for a formal decision. For the rest, I hope that the decisive factor will be taken into account, which is not only the conditions for those who play on the pitch, but the conditions for those who go to the stadium – his words -. Do it on Sunday at 12.30? I hope that the League knows how to evaluate the contextualities, taking into account that the Foro Italico is organized in such a way as to be able to withstand this load, but I believe it would make sense to avoid an overload”. Words that in practice “recommend” moving the derby, presumably to the next day, even if it won’t be easy.

Abodi then also spoke about the 2030 Winter Games. “After the awarding of the 2030 Winter Olympics to France, I have always asked to be able to host the sliding sports in Turin, given that the infrastructure is there, and I have always found great availability. So let’s start from an availability that is, politely, also supervised on my part. The diplomacies work silently and effectively, also respecting the counterparts. So I am convinced that Turin can play its cards and Italy together in Turin”. The Piedmontese capital, as the president of the Piedmont Region, Alberto Cirio, also reiterated today in Brussels, is in the running to host the speed skating competitions at the Oval: the Dutch competition from the city of Heerenveen has to be beaten.
