There was some dramatic news about the legendary F1 designer.

According to the DailyMail, Adrian Newey had to be hospitalized. PDO

The leader of F1 team Aston Martin, Adrian Newey, was not present at last weekend’s Miami GP. The reason for Newey’s absence was ultimately quite dramatic, if the Daily Mail’s information is to be believed.

According to the newspaper, Newey had to be hospitalized for pneumonia.

– Newey, the 67-year-old technical director and co-owner of the team, was not in Miami last weekend as he was still recovering from an illness that has plagued him in recent weeks, Daily Mail F1 reporter Jonathan McEvoy wrote.

According to Aston Martin, Newey visited Aston Martin’s facilities in Northamptonshire last weekend. Talli indicated that Newey now works from home.

The stable did not confirm or deny the Daily Mail’s claims.

– We do not comment on the health information of our employees in public, the team said in its response.

Newey worked for a long time in the background of F1 team Red Bull. He designed the energy drink company’s championship cars during both Sebastian Vettel’s (2010-13) peak years and Max Verstappen’s championship streak (2021-24).

Before his Red Bull career, Newey designed Mika Häkkinen’s McLaren championship cars in the late 1990s (1998 and -99). Even before that, Williams won championships with Newey’s creations.
