The black-and-white football team, which was certain to finish 4th in the league 2 weeks before the end of the season and bid farewell to the Turkish Cup in the semi-finals after leaving the championship race, left its fans disappointed.
Beşiktaş, which last became the champion in the Super League in the 2020-21 season and won the Turkish Cup in 2023-2024, appeared far from its “old days” due to the impact of management, technical change and staff instability.
The black-whites could not meet the expectations of their fans by finishing the league in the sixth place twice, in the third place once and in the fourth place twice in the last 5 seasons.
PLACED 6TH IN THE 2021-22 SEASON
The season in question did not go as desired for Beşiktaş, who started the season after the championship with Sergen Yalçın. In the last season, under the leadership of Ahmet Nur Çebi, the football team started the season with Sergen Yalçın and continued with Önder Karaveli and Valerien Ismael.
The black-whites, who were far from the top of the league, ranked 6th with a goal difference, 22 points behind the champion Trabzonspor, and threw in the towel in the quarter-finals of the Turkish Cup.
Beşiktaş ended the season in question with the TFF Super Cup championship.
FINISHED THE 2022-23 SEASON 3RD
Although Beşiktaş started the 2022-23 season well, the situation changed afterwards. The black-white team, under the management of Valerien Ismael, was later entrusted to Şenol Güneş.
While Beşiktaş finished the season in which Güneş served for the second time, in 3rd place, 10 points behind the leader, they lost to MKE Ankaragücü on penalties in the last 16 rounds of the cup and were eliminated from the organization. The black-whites finished the season without a trophy.
“46 POINTS” BEHIND THE CHAMPION
Beşiktaş experienced one of the worst seasons in its history in 2023-24. The season in question was marked by changes in the president and technical staff for the black-whites. Beşiktaş started the season with Şenol Güneş and later worked under the management of Burak Yılmaz, Rıza Çalımbay, Fernando Santos and Serdar Topraktepe.
While the president of the black-and-white club, Ahmet Nur Çebi, decided to go to an extraordinary general assembly, Hasan Arat took the presidency in December 2023. Beşiktaş ended the season in 6th place, 46 points behind Galatasaray, with coaching changes in an unstable environment.
Under the management of Arat, the black-whites achieved victory by beating Trabzonspor in the Turkish Cup final.
33 POINT DIFFERENCE IN 2024-25 SEASON
Beşiktaş entered the 2024-25 season with a 5-0 TFF Super Cup victory against Galatasaray. The black and white team, which made a good start in the Super League under the management of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, could not stop the decline in the last days of October and left the race early.
In Beşiktaş, which ended the season in 4th place, 33 points behind champion Galatasaray, first Giovanni van Bronckhorst parted ways and then Hasan Arat’s management resigned. Serdal Adalı was elected to the position at the extraordinary general assembly in the last days of December in the black-and-white club, where Hüseyin Yücel was temporarily president.
Besiktas, who finished the season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, said goodbye to the Turkish Cup in the quarter-finals.
NO CUP THIS SEASON TOO
Beşiktaş fell short of expectations in the league and cup this season as well. The black-and-white team, which started the 2025-26 season with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, parted ways with the Norwegian coach after saying goodbye to the European cups early. Beşiktaş management entrusted the team to Sergen Yalçın, the architect of the last championship, but there was no success in the league and cup.
Entering the last two weeks, the black-whites, who were certain to finish the league in 4th place, said goodbye to the cup in the semi-finals. Beşiktaş ended this season without a trophy under the management of Serdal Adalı.
LONGING FOR SUCCESS IN EUROPE TOO
Beşiktaş has also longed for success in European cups in recent years. The black-whites, who last competed in the Champions League in 2021-22, finished the group stage in last place.
Beşiktaş, which could not participate in the European cups in 2022-23, could not go beyond the group stage of the UEFA Conference League in the 2023-24 season and the league stage in the UEFA Europa League in 2024-25. This season, the black and whites could not continue first in the Europa League and then in the Conference League after the qualifying rounds.
