The Eintracht Frankfurt footballers are rushing from success to success; qualification for the Champions League is within reach after their win against Nuremberg. But now there are big concerns about the injured goalscorer Nicole Anyomi.
2:0, 4:1, 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1 – the last few weeks in the women’s Bundesliga are really impressive for Eintracht. After five convincing victories in a row, the Frankfurters are getting a taste of Champions League qualification, especially The 4-1 win against Nuremberg on Monday evening was pretty convincing. The goal is clear: third place must be maintained, behind champions Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg.
There are still two games of the season left and the lead over their pursuers is large: five points on Bayer Leverkusen and seven points on Hoffenheim, who still have one more game to play, on Wednesday evening at Bayern Munich. Actually a lead that should be enough. But the Eintracht players don’t want to take part in such arithmetic games. “We will give everything, but we will think from game to game,” said midfielder Lisanne Gräwe.
What about injured goal scorer Nicole Anyomi?
But as good as the starting position for international business is, there is currently great concern about goal scorer Nicole Anyomi. The 26-year-old initially scored two goals in the 4-1 win against Nurembergbut suddenly found himself injured on the pitch in the 75th minute. Anyomi had recently twisted her right knee in a duel with Maelle Seguin and had to be substituted. The woman from Nuremberg was not to blame.
At the request of hr-sport, Eintracht said on Tuesday morning that Anyomi would be “comprehensively examined medically” during the day. Only then, possibly not until Wednesday, can precise information be expected. The big question now is: Has Anyomi suffered a serious injury and may be out until the end of the season? Or can the 26-year-old perhaps even play again in the top game against Bayern Munich on Saturday (3:45 p.m.)?
Going into the top game against Bayern Munich with a “good feeling”.
The game against FCB will be exciting either way. The last five wins in a row in the league have given Eintracht courage: “We have a really good feeling about the victories and so we will take our self-confidence with us into the game in Munich,” said Gräwe confidently.
A win from the remaining games of the season at Bayern Munich and at home against Union Berlin and Eintracht would have achieved the big goal of qualifying for the Champions League. Third place could already be secured in Munich. “It will of course be a very difficult game, but we want to show that we can win against Bayern Munich. We don’t need motivation because it’s about third place in the table,” explained left-back Nina Lührssen. At Eintracht they all hope that the top scorer in the Bundesliga, Nicole Anyomi (13 goals and 12 assists), can be there again.
