The Vlaamse belastingdienst (Vlabel) spends 4.9 million euros leegstandsheffing per year for the Boerentoren in Antwerp. This confirms the truth of Katoen Natie maandag. Opcentiemen en indexeringen meegerekend dreigt de rekening zo op te lopen tot grandchildren tiientallen miljoenen euro.

Kurt Dupon, directeur at Katoen Natie, vindt dat hij met de rug tegen de muur staat. Het bedrijf heeft zoed as geen opties om te ontsnappen aan de belasting. “We want the money to be in the gates to get the sea to create”, Aldus Dupon.
