The Brazilian top star is fighting with his club against relegation and for their participation in the World Cup. Neymar made a mistake in training.
Football star Neymar was involved in an argument during training at his home club FC Santos, which probably ended in the Brazilian fighting. This is reported by the Brazilian portal “Globoesporte”. The 34-year-old ex-Barça professional is said to have clashed with Robinho Junior, the 18-year-old son of ex-national player Robinho.
The trigger was the teenager’s dribbling, which made Neymar feel “disrespected”. Heated discussions ensued, resulting in shoving and jostling. Neymar then started a hard tackle on the youngster, which further heated up the situation and as a result Neymar slapped him in the face.
Given the prominent names, the Spanish “Marca” spoke of an incident that was “almost a state affair in Brazil.” There are no official statements yet. However, according to the report, Robinho Jr.’s entourage complained to the club management. Neymar is said to have apologized to him during training. The two are actually supposed to have a friendly relationship.
Both players had not previously been in the squad for the derby against Palmeiras. After the 1-1 draw, Santos is still in the bottom of the table. With 15 points, the club is in 16th place and is level on points with Corinthians in the first relegation spot.
Neymar’s absence was also due to the conditions in the stadium. “Playing at Allianz is almost impossible for me. Artificial turf is what bothers me the most as a player – even more than my injuries,” he said.
Despite the events, coach Cuca announced that Neymar would be back in the squad on Tuesday against Recoleta FC in the Copa Sudamericana. In the final spurt of the season, the offensive player is also concerned with his participation in the World Cup. National coach Carlo Ancelotti will name the squad on May 18th.
Neymar played his last game for Brazil to date in October 2023. Ancelotti recently only promised a return if the offensive man was “100 percent fit”.
