The air raid siren sounded in several places in the east of Brabant on Monday at 12 noon. This is striking because the sirens are not tested on May 4, the day of National Remembrance Day.

In Den Bosch, among other places, residents heard the sirens going off. Reports of people who heard the alarm also came from Brandevoort in Helmond and from Nuenen.

A spokesperson for the Brabant-Noord Safety Region confirms that the air raid siren sounded there. According to her, it was a human error.

Normally the sirens are tested every first Monday of the month at 12 noon. But there are exceptions to that. The government website states that the siren is never tested on national and religious holidays. The air raid siren is also not tested on May 4, the day of National Remembrance Day.

Air raid sirens also went off in other places in the Netherlands. According to the safety region, there was also a human error in the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region. It was suspected that several safety regions may have missed the warning not to test on May 4.
