When the first spectators streamed into the stadium on Saturday, a fire alarm system in the arena’s technical room sounded the alarm. The fire department has to arrive.

A fire alarm prevented a major fire in Munich’s Allianz Arena and saved FC Bayern’s home game against 1. FC Heidenheim. The fire department said the alarm went off in a technical room at the stadium about two hours before kick-off on Saturday. The admission of stadium visitors had begun about ten minutes earlier.

When the emergency services arrived in the technical room, there was already a smell of burnt cables. According to the fire department, the fire was quickly brought under control using heavy breathing apparatus and a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher. The affected area was disconnected from the remaining power supply.

There was never any danger for the arriving spectators. The game was not affected by the use either. It is not yet known why the fire started and how much damage was caused.
