At the semi-final in Barcelona, Bayern’s Ena Mahmutovic is in goal in an unusual jersey. She was apparently banned from wearing her regular shirt.
Ena Mahmutovic usually wears purple, pink or green jerseys. But on Sunday, the FC Bayern goalkeeper was suddenly dressed in a neon yellow shirt in the semi-final second leg at FC Barcelona. Numerous users on social media were amazed at the top, which didn’t even show the Munich women’s logo.
On the broadcasting channel Disney+, commentator Nico Seepe clarified the situation in the first round of the game. Apparently Mahmutovic wasn’t allowed to wear her regular jerseys because Uefa stood in the way.
“In case some people are wondering: What kind of new goalkeeper jersey is that from Mahmutovic? Bayern had several with them,” said Seepe. The continental association “didn’t wave through any of the Bavarian number one’s possible outfits,” he explained. “A misunderstanding in the jersey agreement.”
However, Mahmutovic and her colleagues can still achieve the double. After already winning the German championship, Bayern will be in the DFB Cup final in Cologne on May 14th. The opponent of the defending champions is record winners VfL Wolfsburg.
