Like the rest of the Netherlands, RTV Drenthe commemorates on May 4. You can listen to a live report on both radio and television. A day later you also celebrate freedom with RTV Drenthe.

An always charged location on May 4 is the Camp Westerbork Remembrance Center. The memorial program starts here at 7 p.m.

You can watch and listen to the program live via RTV Drenthe. From 7 p.m. a Silent Procession starts on ‘Boulevard des Misères’ to the National Monument.

During the annual Remembrance Day at Camp Westerbork, all Jews, Sinti and Roma who were deported from the Netherlands through this place are commemorated.

This year, too, a special rainbow wreath will be laid at the National Monument during the commemoration. The wreath is in recognition of LGBTI+ victims who were persecuted during the Second World War.

The documentary was recently shown in De Nieuwe Kolk The Women’s March premiered. That is a TV film about the march of 116 women from Camp Westerbork to the province of Groningen.

This documentary will be broadcast on RTV Drenthe on May 4.

On May 5 you will celebrate freedom together with RTV Drenthe. RTV Drenthe reports on radio, TV and online channels, with a focus on the Drenthe Liberation Festival at the Baggelhuizerplas in Assen.

We celebrate freedom from the mobile studio on the festival site. Reporters Robbert Oosting and Jeanine Hofsteenge experience the atmosphere on the festival site and behind the scenes.

In addition to music, there is a Freedom Brunch XXL and RTV Drenthe might also take a stab at this.
