FC Barcelona vs. FC Bayern Munich

As of: May 3, 2026 • 6:49 p.m

FC Bayern’s women dreamed of reaching the Champions League final for the first time, but Barcelona were simply too dominant in front of their home crowd. After a strong fight in front of 60,000 fans at the Camp Nou, the Munich team lost 2:4.

In the legendary Camp Nou, the FC Bayern women wanted to make history on Sunday evening and reach the final of the Champions League for the first time. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg against the mighty FC Barcelona, this dream seemed within reach. But the Catalans showed in front of an impressive home crowd why they have recently reached the final of the premier class five times in a row.

Supported by 60,000 fans at the Camp Nou, Barcelona started with their usual self-confidence. The Blaugrana dominated the game from the start and created several chances in the first few minutes. In the 13th minute it got really loud for the first time in the Camp Nou, because Graham Hansen passed into the center, Salma Paralluelo evaded Giulia Gwinn at the second post and made it 1-0. It was an early shock for the guests from Munich, but they reacted strongly.

The Munich women are staying tuned

Less than four minutes later, Bernadette Amani won the ball from the Blaugrana and immediately initiated the counterattack. Pernille Harder stormed towards the opponent’s goal, then passed on to Linda Dallmann, who shot from the edge of the penalty area to equalize 1-1.

The hosts seemed completely unimpressed by the equalizer. They continued to play dominantly. The entire game moved to the front of the Munich goal. This was also the case in the 22nd minute: Paralluelo passed well into the center of the penalty area, where Ewa Pajor missed the ball with his head. There was a small hustle and bustle around the area and Bayern couldn’t clear the ball properly. Alexia Putellas took advantage of the situation, grabbed the ball with presence of mind and converted to take the lead again 2-1. We went into the break with the score 2-1.

Barcelona were merciless after the break

Afterwards, a similar picture emerged on the pitch as in the first half. Barcelona were constantly pushing for the next goal and always presented themselves a bit more lively and quicker than the competition from Munich. And that paid off twice: in the 55th minute, Paralluelo was free on the left wing and found Ewa Pajor with her cross. She confidently headed in to make it 3-1. Less than three minutes later, the two-time world footballer Putellas converted a free kick to make it 4-1. The preliminary decision at Camp Nou?

FCB women are back – and how

Not yet: Barcelona seemed a little more harmless, calmer on the pitch for a few minutes and the Munich team knew how to take advantage of that. Dallmann grabbed the ball, sent Harder through the penalty area and she scored to make it 4-2. The FCB women suddenly seemed to have woken up again, got into the game much better and created a lot of good offensive moves. Arianna Caruso had the best in the 79th minute. An assist from Klara Bühl steered it strongly towards the goal, but Barcelona keeper Cata Coll directed the ball onto the crossbar.

The following corner was dangerous again, but Coll was there again and Imade’s follow-up shot landed well over the goal. That’s not all: Linda Dallmann tried from a distance and the ball hit the crossbar again (83′). Bayern stuck with it and even scored in the 90th minute to make it 4-3. However, Harder’s goal was overturned after a VAR check due to a foul by Dallmann in the pregame.

So it remained a 2:4 defeat for the Munich team, who missed the historic entry into the final of the Champions League despite a strong fight at the end.
