The perpetrator of the shooting was a fourteen-year-old schoolboy. He opened fire indiscriminately in two classrooms and was also killed, as were eight students and a teacher. Thirteen others were injured.
The perpetrator’s motive is still unclear. It was the second school shooting in Turkey in less than 24 hours, in a country where such incidents are rare.
More than two weeks after the attack, an eleven-year-old girl has now died. She had been in hospital since the attack and succumbed to her injuries.
