Nick Seeler’s special act was caught on camera.
The opening game of the second playoff round of the NHL between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Philadelphia Flyers saw a special refereeing decision.
The Hurricanes quickly jumped out to a 2–0 lead at the start of the match, but after the middle of the opening set, the focus shifted completely to another.
Hurricanes forward Jordan Martinook sent to the ice for a high stick when he was deemed to have hit a Flyers puck Nick Seeler to the face.
However, if you watch the slow motion, you can see how Seeler grabs Martinook’s bat himself and hits himself in the face with it. However, the jury did not see this, and sent the 33-year-old Canadian to the ice hall.
The decision got the Hurricanes head coach by Rod Brind’Amour to react strongly from the bench. However, the situation did not backfire, as the Flyers failed to take advantage of their superiority.
The home team Hurricanes won the opening match of the playoff series 3–0. Two goal scorers were responsible for the team’s goals Logan Stankoven and one a tingle struck Jackson Blake.
The match series continues on the night between Monday and Tuesday.
