Frankfurt coach Albert Riera is under pressure. Even before the game against Hamburg there were whistles, after which Riera made an alarming statement.

Eintracht Frankfurt lost the home game against Hamburger SV 1:2 (0:0) and coach Albert Riera has to worry about his job. As “Bild” and “Kicker” report, sports director Markus Krösche evaded several times when it came to a commitment to the Spaniard.

Shortly after the bankruptcy, the 45-year-old didn’t want to talk about the coach. “Today the coach is not an issue. In the end it’s about the team’s performance. And this season it’s not enough, especially in such important games,” said Krösche when asked whether Riera would also be on the bench next Friday in Dortmund (8.30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online).

Shortly later, when it came to the medium-term future and the look into the coming season, Krösche refused to make a commitment to Riera: “Let’s talk about the performance today, and it wasn’t good enough.”

At the press conference after the game, the Spaniard himself was also asked about his future. He’s not worried about himself or his position. He only worries about the players. “We need the players to play better. They need to be in better shape and have solutions. That’s what I focus on because I can control that. When I think about things I can’t control, I lose energy.”
