Kelly Detavernier, deputy for mobility: “You should know that in the province of West Flanders we have 2,600 kilometers of the supra-local functional bicycle route network. Of that, more than 2,000 kilometers are bicycle safe today. But we still have more than 500 kilometers of work to do.”
Vulnerable road users were central to the entire redevelopment of the Lichterveldestraat. It is therefore an important traffic artery with a lot of heavy agricultural transport. The interventions, and certainly the cycle paths on both sides of the road, should improve road safety.
